TAKING CARE OF OUR SOLDIERS AND FAMILIES

OVERVIEW

Introduction
Quality of Life programs promote the health and well-being of the Army’s people, increasing recruiting and retention and reducing overall stress and uncertainty. Increased quality of life for Soldiers, Army civilians, and families is directly tied to increased Army readiness.

HOUSING:

Ensuring Soldiers and their families have safe, quality, on-post housing and barracks.

HEALTH CARE:

Army Medicine’s primary mission is to support the Total Force by enabling readiness and conserving the fighting strength while caring for our people and their families.

Child Care:

The Army provides quality and affordable care for children ages six weeks to 18 years of age and is investing in initiatives to increase access to child care. Each year, Child, Youth & School Services supports more than 226,000 children and youth through a system of both on- and off-post options.

Spouse Employment:

The Army is improving career and employment opportunities for military spouses through new programs and existing partnerships. The Army is implementing a holistic approach to helping military spouses find jobs, build careers and improve their quality of life.

PCS Moves:

The Army continues to implement policies and initiatives to improve and streamline permanent change of station (PCS) relocations so that Soldiers and their families experience safe, convenient, and predictable transitions to new homes.
